Fashion Friday looks closer at “Versace” Spring Summer 2013 Milan full show This season, Donatella Versace played with the idea of luxury resortwear for Spring/Summer. Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo said she felt like she was watching the Versace girl on vacation at the beach. Ken Downing from Neiman Marcus said the girls had a Stevie Nicks attitude with a focus on the 70s. This was a laid back Versace girl, with more lace and less form fitting silhouettes, though the sexiness did not fade. There was an undone easiness about the collection with crinkled silks and laser cut perforations in the material.
The concept of pure style is brought to an extreme pitch in a collection that reflects a “clean” attitude, a way of being and expressing yourself that is simple and natural, and never too affected. A palette comprised of neutral hues with touches of gold/bronze, and a range of warmer cinnamon and spice colours emphasizes the soft forms and perfect shapes. The effect is to frame the wearer’s skin as a form of natural make-up.
